We thought it would be a good idea to start a record of the Bowerchalke CC officers. The details below have been taken from the various Ficture Cards we have received. There are some gaps of course but maybe these will be filled in over time.

Introductory Remarks and What We're Trying To Achieve

Welcome!
Over the years we've both heard a lot about the long-lost Bowerchalke Cricket Club from many friends, family members and people at clubs in other local villages whose ears always seem to prick up when you tell them your a Gulliver. They often say things like: "I played against your uncles", "Are you David or Richard's boy?" and "They were a right pair!".

Without fail people say that Bowerchalke was the best village team in the Salisbury area and if the National Village Knockout competition had been in place at the time it would have done very well. They still mourn its loss today despite over 35 years having passed since its demise.

Uncles David, Richard and Robin and Dad Brian all have great stories to tell about the club in its prime in the 1960s! But we're sure that there are many, many other people out there who have their own personal memories.

How fantastic it is then that cricket is to return to the village and that is one of the things that has spurred us on to set-off on this escapade! It'll also give us something to talk about when we have the next get together of The Gullivers cricket team, more of which another time.

Purpose Of This Blog
So, the purpose of this blog is to help us digitally capture as much information as possible about the old Bowerchalke village Cricket Club and ultimately create a 'virtual museum exhibition'. What will that look like? Well, that's the beauty of an exercise like this: we're not sure! The shape it will take, the content it includes will all depend on what we discover along the way!

There are so many different approaches we could have taken to do this but this one offers the most flexibility and should allow us to do a reasonable job. It will also allow us to share our own thoughts, ideas, receive feedback on how best to do this and keep people up-to-speed with progress. Should be fun.

Items Of Interest
We're interested in finding out about any of the following but please don't limit yourself to this list if you have something which may be of interest to us which you'd like to share:

* Stories and memories - about games you may have watched or played in, players who played for the village, the village ground surrounded by the cow field and with its rather basic facilities, some of the characters, the Bell Inn, amusing stories and so on.

* Have you kept any old Bowerchalke village Cricket Club memorabilia such as: fixture cards, photographs, newspaper clippings, notebooks, scorebooks, trophies or medals?

* Other village teams - did you ever play against Bowerchalke village Cricket Club, if so we'd like to hear from you too about your experiences, home or away!
