Twenty (ish) Questions!

I thought it would be a good idea to set out some questions that might 'trigger' a few memories and stories:

(a): Can you name the villages and other teams Bowerchalke regularly played against each season? 1(b): Were there teams Bowerchalke traditionally opened and closed the cricket season against?

What impact did harvest time have on cricket in Bowerchalke? Did cricket continue? Did the Club 'struggle' to put out a team?

Was cricket played in April and September?

Can you recall any memorable batting, bowling or fielding performances for Bowerchalke players or players from the opposition?

Who were the real characters of Bowerchalke Cricket Club over the years? Who can you recall playing cricket for the Club?

Who were the 'feared' players who played for other villages and teams?

Where were the most enjoyable places to go to and play? Why?

Did Bowerchalke get to The Knapman Cup Final, what year(s), did they win? Who were their opponents? Can you name the Bowerchalke team(s) who played?

Did Bowerchalke play in any other finals or win any other trophies?

Do you remember any cricket photographs being out on display in The Bell Inn?

Do you recall any details about Bowerchalke's matches against Trinity College, Cambridge?

Does anyone know the locations of the other fields in Bowerchalke where cricket was played in the early 1900s? Three farmers' names are mentioned in Rex Sawyer's book on Collett's Papers (Foyle, Hardimann and Williamson) who loaned the use of their fields at various times before 1920.

Did Bowerchalke Cricket Club hold Annual General Meetings? Where were they held and who chaired them? Were any meeting minutes or notes kept as a record?

How much did players pay for match fees and teas?

Who used to umpire? Who used to score?

Did cricket continue to be played at Bowerchalke during World War 2?

Did Bowerchalke have its own kit bag? How did it get taken to away games?

Was there a set of club colours or a badge? What colour caps did Bowerchalke play in?

Cricket appears to have been played at the Cricket Field from 1920 to 1973, when the club folded. What were the main reasons for the club folding?

Did the club celebrate its 50th anniversary at the Cricket Field in 1970? If so, how?
